Who Are We?

Carter McCormick and Paula Sprenger, a husband-and-wife team, founded Habitat Productions, a non-profit film company dedicated to wildlife and environmental storytelling. They met at SCAD in 2015, married in 2017, and have been creating films together ever since.

Their first feature, The Wild Connection, explored the emotional bond between humans and wildlife by highlighting over 20 species across U.S. State Parks. They also served as cinematographers on Free Puppies, a documentary about dog rescue efforts in the American South. Most recently released Forest Beneath the Waves, which investigates the ecological risks of the potential mechanical harvesting of kelp forests in Bantry Bay, Ireland.

Their work has been featured at festivals including Jackson Wild, the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival, and Natourale, and they’ve collaborated with organizations such as the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, Defenders of Wildlife, the National Parks Arts Foundation, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and more.

Carter, originally from Georgia, is a conservation filmmaker and university-level film professor whose research focuses on increasing the real-world impact of wildlife films. Paula, from Santiago, Chile, began her career in photography and is a Red Dot Award winner. Today, they work together using film as a tool for environmental advocacy and change.
